Another great man with an interesting character was Empedocles, who lived from 494-434 BC. Empedocles was a Pre-Socratic Greek philosopher most famously known for his cosmological theory that everything in existence comprises the four elements: air, fire, water, and earth. He quoted these to be “the fourfold root of all things.”
What fascinates me most about this concept is when I look at the objects of reality around me, I begin to experience a new relationship with what I'm observing. All living organisms, including myself, comprise elements found in the Earth's crust and environment. These elements, such as carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur, provide the basic building blocks for life.
These elements bind to keep us warm, alive, fed, and hydrated.
It accomplishes this in a way that renders my unique consciousness driving the flesh vehicle of my mortal corporality, simply because it wants to.
It is truly compelling.
Time, the grand conductor of our Universe, sits still until we finally harness the power hidden within its fabric. Human understanding has never ceased to evolve, from Empedocles’s four elements to Einstein’s theory of relativity… Our curiosities will never resign until every stone is overturned
Over the years, I've become increasingly fascinated by the wonders of science through writing. Before I became fascinated with writing, I was highly immersed in the wonders of music. On this journey, I saw a bridge between these two realms that humanity didn't leave unnoticed.
Examining the diagram above, you can notice a parallel pattern of relationships between sound, light, the electromagnetic spectrum, and mass. I love proactively envisioning what the universe truly is, a framework of fractal patterns that fabricate the artifacts of existence. They all cooperate in tethering our five senses to create a looking glass into itself, infinitely. For example, sound waves resemble the spectrum of color and heat because they are cryptically related.
You can’t have sound without matter to create it. Therefore, the sound is equivalent to the matter producing it. You are the sound you produce. It must be why each of our voices sounds unique. It must be why music is so emotionally fusing between the artist and the listener. Because what we're experiencing is a cloudy entanglement of our souls.
You should know what I'm talking about if you’ve ever been slammed in a mosh pit.
Visual fractal patterns can be found both in the vast expanse of the universe and within the intricate details of human lifestyles and bodies. The structure of trees, with its repeated patterns of smaller branches stemming from larger ones, mirrors the intricate network of blood vessels that deliver life-sustaining nutrients throughout our bodies. This connection hints at the underlying fractal nature of both natural and biological systems.
Another captivating example can be seen in the resemblance between the network of galaxies in the cosmos and the intricate synapses in the human brain. The vast web of galaxies, with its clusters and filaments, bears a striking resemblance to neural networks, where billions of neurons interconnect by dendrites and axons to facilitate the transmission of information. This parallel hints at the potential universality of patterns, where similar structures emerge at different scales, be it in the immense cosmos or the complexity of the human mind.
We are the Universe… literally.
The proof is right in front of your f*****g eyes!
